Oliver Lake is an American jazz saxophonist, flutist, composer, poet, and visual artist. During the 1960s, Lake worked with the Black Artists Group in St. Louis. He has appeared on more than 80 albums as a bandleader, co-leader, and musician. Gene Lake embodies the contradictions of modern music. He is an all-around drummer who cut his teeth on funk and jazz. He was born in St. Louis, MO, and lived there until age 14, when he moved to New York City and attended the High School of Music and Arts.
