S1Ep6: We’re Gonna Do Better – We’ve Just Got To

from LANDED · host American Farmland Trust

The Sheltons are protecting their ranch with a conservation easement — but now they have to bring their family together to put a succession plan into place. Jim and Sara Shelton have been thinking about succession planning for nearly a decade. Alongside their four children, they’ve been to workshops, listened to podcasts, and talked to farming friends. In other words, they have studied for the test — and now they’re putting their knowledge into action. The Sheltons’ conservation easement protects their land from real estate development and buys them time to work through family dynamics. But even though they know what to do and which tools to use, the work of succession planning is still a journey. Join us as we talk with these Oklahoma ranchers who are in the “messy middle”— and trying to find their way forward.

My Wakeup Call with Dr. Mark Goulston Mark Goulston I'm Dr. Mark Goulston, and this is My Wakeup Call. Everybody has personal wakeup calls, but not everybody wakes up. In this podcast, we speak to people who did. In fact, they not only woke up, but their wakeup calls changed their lives, often helped them discover their purpose and then changed how they would spend the rest of their life. In most cases, the wakeup call was not pleasant, sought-after, and often shook people to the core of their being. But in every case, it made our guests more authentic, better at life, better in life and better human beings. I hope you will listen in and become as inspired as I am from every episode. I also hope it will help you persevere if you are going through a wakeup call and haven't yet gotten through the pain of it, or landed in your future as the better person you're meant to be, with the better life that you're meant to have.DISCLAIMER: Any information or advice I give is purely based on my own experience. I'm a spicy Latina girly-girl with a twist of tomboy that isn't afraid of much. Throughout my life that lack of fear has always landed me one of two places. Down the wrong road, or down the right road after taking every single wrong turn possible to get there. What can I say, I'm directionally challenged in the car and in life. But I consider it one of my greatest blessings to have done life backwards and upside down because opening up about my experiences connects me with you. I talk about everything from mini rants on mom life, to heartbreak in abusive relationships, but most of all manifesting an unconventional version of happily ever after. Fashion, beauty, fitness, reviews, reality TV, and of course let us not forget reluctant adulting. If you're thinking about it but you don't want to say it, I'm usually talking about it. Having said all that, my mantra an
