S2:E20 - Unpacking: 1. Being In Your Body and 2. Engaging Body Work, To Expedite Healing

from Who Turned The Lights On? · host Shannon Eastman

I share the clarity I have gained, some distinctions I've made, and some suggestions on how and where to start. Starting is what matters most here. This is the episode where I unpack two areas that matter a lot when it comes to: healing, recovery and shifting out of the chaos of emotional overwhelm, emotional numbing, and emotional exhaustion, and into a space that feels really good to be in, even when stressful spaces, places and faces pop up. That means understanding; the body's role in your healing, how the body can expedite recovery, how the body will drive us to React or Respond during times of stress, and appreciating the distinction between supporting your body, being in your body and working with body (E.g. Body Work). Some of the key terms I use in this episode include: #NervousSystem, #SelfRegulation, #MindBodyCommunication, #ImplicitMemory, #Unconscious, #RepressedEmotion, #EmotionRecovery, #EmotionRelease, #Reparenting, #Reframing. I also introduce an imaginary visual aid (a spectrum) to explain Body Work for 3 distinct activities (recover, release, reparent) that I have found helpful in order to better understand this specific area. Those 3 areas plotted along my imaginary spectrum include: Ancient Practices, Clinical Practices, Modern Practices. You are invited to simply enter the spot on the spectrum that feels most interesting for you because there is no one-way-to-do-this. ________________________________________________________ The Trauma Informed Growth Podcast explores Complex Trauma, C-PTSD and Post-Traumatic Growth through a business lens.  You can get a free PDF copy of Shannon's latest book "C-PTSD at Work: Highly Functioning, Secretly in Despair" on shannoneastman.com/cptsd-at-work, or buy the paperback on Amazon Worldwide for $9.99 US.  If you'd like to be a guest on the show, or share your c-PTSD story - have a look at the ABOUT section of my podcast website for details, and when you're read, email shannon at shannoneastman dot com so we can set up an initial Meet & Greet.    Visit My Blog shannoneastman.com/blog Browse My Published Work shannoneastman.com/books Follow Me On: Medium @ShannonEastman-CPTSDatWork Twitter @ShannonEastman LinkedIn.com/ShannonEastman Facebook.com/shannon.e.eastman  #Entrepreneurs, #Founders, #Employed, #Self Employed, #High Achievers, #Chronic Stress, #C-PTSD, #Highly Functioning  #Recovery, #CPTSD, #Mental Health, #Co-Regulation, #Complex Trauma, #Emotional Dysregulation, #Self Regulation, #C-PTSD, #CPTSD At Work  #Addiction, #CPTSD, #Mental Health, #Body Work, #CPTSD At Work, #BrainBodyMindSoul
