S2 E43: Nope & Prey - GIANT-SIZE Patreon Preview

from That Would Be Rad · host Woody Brown and Tyler Bence

In this GIANT-SIZE episode we discuss two movies released in July that we've been wanting to talk about on our show since we watched them both. SPOILER ALERT: If you haven't watched Nope, or Prey as of yet - you might want to wait before pressing PLAY on this 2HR+ episode, because we dive deep. This week you'll hear us talk about Jordan Peele, his previous movies "Get Out", "Us" and whether we think he's a cinematic genius - or a flash in the pan. (Spoiler alert: genius) We go over the acting chops, chemistry, and incredible character development of Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Brandon Perea, Michael Wincott, and Steven Yeun. Plus - what's up with that strange/eerie monkey sub-plot? And of course...we discuss...the ship. But wait - there's more! After re-watching the original Predator and Predator II, Woody feels like an expert on where the newest in the franchise, Dan Trachtenberg's Prey, stacks up. We talk about the incredible Amber Midthunder (coolest name in Hollywood), Dakota Beavers, and the amazing #girlpower trope that felt incredibly authentic. We dive into the amazing Thunderbird Native American lore, briefly mentioned in the beginning of the movie, and our theories. As well as all the easter eggs and tributes sprinkled throughout the movie as a nod to the ones that came before it. We recorded this episode several weeks ago and tucked it away, along with a few others that we have saved, to be exclusive for our Patreon subscribers. But, we thought releasing this GIANT-SIZE episode as a way to announce the upcoming launch of our Patreon would be the perfect kick off! So, PRESS PLAY and hear what we rank these movies, and all the big announcements we have for the exciting things coming up for That Would Be Rad.
