S2 E5: The Writer Who Named Him
from Case Files: True Crime Stories Hosted by Rehan Ahmed
Before Joseph James DeAngelo was caught, one woman hunted him for five years — writer Michelle McNamara, who coined the name "Golden State Killer" and gave forty years of scattered crimes a single identity. Her book I'll Be Gone in the Dark became a bestseller after her death in 2016 — and two months after it was published, the killer was finally arrested. She never saw the arrest. She never wrote the ending. But she dragged the case into the light anyway. New episodes daily — one complete case every season. Music by SINIUS (Free Music Archive, CC-BY 4.0).
