The Parent Trap (1998): A Millennial & Gen Z Rewatch | S2 Ep. 2

from Millennial Meets Gen Z: 90s Edition Hosted by Millennial Meets Gen Z

“O, how the turn tables have turned…” - Michael Scott (& Allison) This week, Hannah takes over the script for one of HER childhood favorites, The Parent Trap (1998), and apparently she had a lot to say about it. Before we even get to Camp Walden, Hannah tells us how this movie fueled her childhood maladaptive daydreaming, complete with pacing around the house, talking to herself, imaginary long-lost twins, dramatic reunions, and entire storylines that existed exclusively in her head. Allison did NOT do this as a kid... and she’ll tell you why. 😂 Then we rewind The Parent Trap, where two girls meet at summer camp, discover they’re identical twins, switch places, and decide the obvious solution to their parents’ 11-year divorce is to get them back together. Along the way, Hannah unexpectedly gets a lesson in: Phone booths and collect calls How a Disney movie is apparently teaching Hannah about poker DIY ear piercing, because Claire’s wasn’t always an option Meredith Blake, who may be the villain... but has incredible style Chessy and Martin, obvi. And all the little details, callbacks, and '90s moments we noticed this time around. We also talk about the original 1961 Parent Trap, Lindsay Lohan pulling double duty as Hallie and Annie, the VERY '90s fashion, the 411 making another appearance, and why Chessy somehow knew something was wrong almost immediately. Hannah’s Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (9/10) Allison’s Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (7.5/10) Allison's Favorite Character: Meredith Blake 💅 because Elaine Hendrix is amazing. 🎧 Follow us so you don’t miss the rest of Season 2! Our Next Watch: We’re making a little 2000s detour with Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002). Be kind… and rewind. 💛
