Dr. Warren Carter is the LaDonna Kramer Meinders Professor of New Testament at Phillips Seminary in Tulsa OK. From 2007-2019, he was Professor of New Testament at Brite Divinity School, TCU, Fort Worth TX. Before going to Brite, he was Pherigo Professor of New Testament at Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City MO. A native of New Zealand, he is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington (BA: BA(Honors) First Class), the Melbourne College of Divinity (Bachelor of Divinity; Masters of Theology) and Princeton Theological Seminary NJ (PhD in New Testament Studies). Dr. Carter has written numerous books on the New Testament including The Roman Empire and the New Testament: An Essential Guide and What Does Revelation Reveal? Unlocking the Mystery. In this episode, I talk to Warren about imperial-critical readings of the New Testament and what it means to read the New Testament with the Roman Empire not in the background but in the foreground.
