Cheri Dotterer faced immense personal and professional challenges, finding herself in a deep emotional crisis that affected her family and career. Struggling with low self-esteem and contemplating suicide, she navigated through job losses and the pursuit of a master’s degree in pediatric occupational therapy. A pivotal conversation with a Special Education teacher sparked a business idea, but initial setbacks left her feeling devastated. Determined, Cheri reached out to schools and built a caseload, but administrative demands and personal pressures nearly overwhelmed her. Concurrently, her daughter’s struggles with spelling and a student’s writing difficulties led Cheri to extensive research on writing disabilities, particularly in gifted students. Inspired by the Book of Esther, she found the courage to overcome her challenges and follow a divine calling to write. This led to the publication of "Handwriting Brain Body DisConnect" and the development of the Dotterer Dysgraphia Method. Her business, Dotterer Educational Consulting, now empowers teachers and therapists to address writing challenges through neuroscience-based professional development, enhancing student outcomes and reducing educational costs without traditional curricula.
