S2 Episode 11 - Stronger body and mindset

from Outstanding Women Leaders · host outstandingwomenleaders

Always asking 'why' and dreaming of finding true happiness, Emily Adams was not your average Amish kid. With zero interest in learning how to cook, clean, sew or do anything girly, this tomboy loved to be outside, playing sports and training horses. When Emily turned 17 she made her mind up to leave everything she has known her entire life (see ya later Amish community) and start writing her own story. This was the first time in her life that she realized the amount of mental strength she had, and her ability to believe in herself, even when no one else did. Emily's strong body and mind has gotten her through a whole lot of the years! After going through a rough divorce and nasty custody battle, she was ready to start working on herself. In her words, "I didn’t know who I was anymore, all I knew was that I was called to do more in life."   Her life changes consisted of getting a gym membership and applying to go to college. Emily's life-long dream of becoming and athlete and earning a college degree were about to come true, but not without being told it would be impossible to be an athlete, graduate in 4 years, all while working full time and being a single mom. Not only did Emily walk across that stage in 4 years with her bachelor degree, she also dropped 65 pounds working out and cleaning up her nutrition. After running multiple Spartan races, she was introduced to powerlifting and fell in love with the sport of competing.Working out and losing weight built Emily's confidence and gave her the self esteem she needed to realize she was a lot stronger, both mentally and physically, than she ever gave herself credit for. Tune in to hear Emily share her morning routines, steps you can take to start overcoming your limiting beliefs, and ways you can explore your identity and decide whoo YOU want to be, as you create your own identity recipe. OWL give you a hint, it includes eliminating judgement and whole lotta mediation!  Connect with Emily  LinkedIn Instagram  Facebook
