S2 Episode 21 - Dying to thrive with TBI featuring Ariel Johnson

from Outstanding Women Leaders · host outstandingwomenleaders

Ariel Johnson was a typical teenage girl getting ready to go off to college that summer when an icy road and a car accident changed her life forever. Legally dead, when Ariel woke up she was missing her memory and half her skull. As she looked around the hospital at the cards and posters from her high school friends, she was speechless—literally, she had a tube in her throat and like a kindergartner, Ariel was going to have to learn to walk and talk OWL over again. Whoo Ariel was died that day, and after spending time fighting to get that old Ariel back, she decided to surrender and accept that whoo she was now was even better than the Ariel that died that day. Rewriting her story, one step at a time In 2012, Ariel was smoking cigarettes, eating too much, and on lots of medication. She knew one day she wanted to help TBI survivors one day, and be that support system they need, but first she needed to become that support system for herself. Ariel knew she didn’t quite yet know how she was going to become a billionaire one day, but she is certain that it will happen. Ariel continued to let the universe hear her intentions each day, while also working to improve her ability to filter thoughts, read body language, and be more empathetic to others. Ariel’s love of learning, positive attitude, and supportive gave her the chance to thrive after TBI. She is the founder of @TBI_me, a healthy, positive, loving online community where you can be free to be you and grow at your own rate! Ariel is an absolute joy and a total love bug (just ask her family) on a mission to love and support fellow TBI survivors, their friends and family, as well as medical professionals working with TBI injuries. She’s also writing a book to share her journey and give hope to those struggling the thrive with TBI. Connect with Ariel! Instagram Linktree
