S2E14: Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol -or- Revenge of the B Movie

We scare up Nick and Josh from Smashing Game Time to blast through Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES, 1993) and Ghoul Patrol (SNES, 1994) as we take a detour from Mike and Jaymo’s epic quest to research and review every retro game in the Nintendo Switch Online catalog! In this episode we look at why chainsaws were replaced with axes when Zombies went overseas, Jaymo gets burned by how much difference a flamethrower can make, try to figure out how much of Ghoul Patrol’s original game design is peeking through, and dabble in some light true-crime podcasting as we touch upon the American jazz-loving serial killer the Axeman of New Orleans.Plus in another episode’s bonus blog rambling, Mike digs into many more of the film and general pop culture references that are infesting Zombies Ate My Neighbors: https://www.theoldswitcharoo.com/blog/zombies-ate-my-references/Thanks for listening, and a very special thanks to Kristal Fields of The Lazy Circles for our catchy new theme song!
