S2E15 - Racial Bias in Healthcare

from Not Defined by Endo · host Teniola Ogunro

“None of us alone can save the nation or the world. But each of us can make a positive difference if we commit ourselves to do so.” - Cornel West Today's episode is with Amy, an amazing advocate for Endometriosis, and founder of 'In Sixteen Years of Endometriosis' Podcast, where she and her co-host Brittany give us incredibly uplifting accounts of their experiences dealing with Endometriosis for over 16 years. Amy is very active on social media, specifically Instagram, through her page ‘in16yearsofendo’, where she thoroughly educates the community on Endometriosis and the scientific research available and provides resources to support women with the disease. She also has a website https://insixteenyears.com/ where she has so many resources to educate and support women going through the disease. Amy and I support each other a lot and share our life experiences, and we thought it would be great to do a podcast episode together. We realised that something that we had both been thinking about is racial bias in healthcare as well as access, or the lack of it, to healthcare in lesser developed countries like Nigeria. We decided that this is something we both wanted to explore, research and talk about and here we are!  Remember that you can follow me on instagram @notdefinedbyendo, and you can follow Amy @in16yearsofendo. This episode is airing on each of our podcasts, so kick off your shoes, get yourself a refreshing drink, and let’s have a listen!   Music  Underground Stars by Loxbeats https://spoti.fi/34tPBBO  Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0  Free Download / Stream: https://bit.ly/underground-stars  Music promoted by Audio Library https://youtu.be/vpJDMD2EzkA
