I went to do a talk about my Unbuilt book and my novel The Wall in The Head at Chris Grimley's gallery Pink Comma in the South End and a few days later we met up again to walk around a typical American urban park located just across the road. It was a blast.Peters Park is located in a famous Syrian/Lebanese neighbourhood of the city. I love the little league pitches and basketball courts you see across the country, and the dedicated dog zones especially for this nation of dog nuts. Chris was a wonderful and warm host who made me feel right at home in his adopted hometown as we talked about football, TV, books and architecture.Chris and I shot the breeze about our shared love of brutalist architecture and how he suggested that Boston rebrands its concrete colossi as HEROIC in his book of the same name. He did the excellent Blue Crow Map of Brutalist Boston and has books on Pittsburgh and Marcel Breuer too.He also got my Mrs Maisel reference off the bat - I loved when Jane Jacobs appears as herself in that excellent show. I sort of want to write a screenplay about Jane Jacobs and Robert Moses.
