S2E25 with guest Malakai Strong

from The TyePod · host Tye Martin

Hello there! In this episode I’m joined by Malakai (@MalakaiStrong), PS Human Rights Commissioner! He talks about his experiences with Cerebral Palsy and intersectionality with being a Black trans man. We talk about challenges with caregiving, experiences with earning his degree, and finding support. We both have experienced similar situations in academia, with limited accommodations at times. We share how empowering it can be when professors offer support and become advocates alongside us! One more thing he mentioned that resonated with me is that people often assume that we (people with severe disabilities) choose careers that only use computers. There are so many areas we are passionate about with little to no direct dependence on computers just like anyone else. I appreciate Malakai’s honesty and authenticity in sharing his story! You can find his book, Super Me, here: https://tr.ee/Shn3NA3SvgThis week’s episode is in my bio! As always, thank you so much to everyone who listens, follows, shares and interacts with my content and a huge shoutout to the amazing guests who take time to come on my podcast. In the next episode, I am joined by Wendy aka Auntie Spoonie (@ChronicallyHumored)!If you or anyone you know are interested in making a guest appearance please send me a message!Your friendly neighborhood PhD 💙Tye#DisabilityCommunity #IntersectionalityMatters #BlackTransLivesMatter #DisabledAndProud #TransVoices #LivedExperience #CaregivingJourney #DisabilityAwareness #TransRightsAreHumanRights #DisabilityPodcast #InclusiveStorytelling #ChronicIllnessCommunity #AuthenticVoices #BlackAndDisabled #AccessibilityMatters #DisabilityJustice #DisabledCreators #PodcastGuestCall #MalakaiStrong
