S2E3 - Climate Action and Science
from Scott Center for Social Entrepreneurship
Episode Notes In this episode, we talk with Hillbrook Middle School science teacher Gale Shu and some of her sixth-grade students about teaching and learning climate action inside and outside of the classroom. Ms. Shu shares insights into what climate change education looks like at the sixth grade level, and students share favorite moments and practical takeaways from their climate change unit last fall. As one of their major projects, the students participated in the Team Seas Challenge, collecting a surprising amount of trash around campus in a competition between classes. The Scott Center helped the winning class make a donation to Team Seas, and we were so excited to hear from this group of sixth graders as they continue to develop a sense of agency around climate action. This conversation was once again held in the Hillbrook science garden, and there was a lot of activity going on around us! Please be mindful of that as you choose your audio level.
