S2E6: On the Art of Digital Learning
from Learn English by Listening · host trkenankement
When I consider the great transformation that has befallen our methods of learning in these modern times, I am often struck by both wonder and apprehension. The ancient Greeks, in their academies, gathered beneath olive trees to discourse upon the nature of the world; the medieval scholars hunched over manuscripts in candlelit monasteries; and now we, the inheritors of their intellectual traditions, find ourselves bathed in the blue light of screens, our knowledge mediated through invisible networks that span the globe. This digital realm of learning, so different from all that preceded it, demands of us new aptitudes, fresh perspectives, and perhaps most importantly, a philosophical reconsideration of what it means to learn, to know, and to grow in wisdom.
