Welcome to a special Throwback Thursday episode of the Canine Culture Podcast! On this episode, we're revisiting Episode 1 of Season 2, where we had the pleasure of speaking with Debbie Johnson, the founder of K9s United. K9s United is a nonprofit organization founded in 2015 with a mission to help supplement what's not being met due to budget constraints in K9 Unit funding. Debbie shares with us how K9s United works with K9 Units across the US to provide support and resources to these selfless heroes. Despite the different needs of each agency, K9 Units across the US have the same budget constraints, and K9s United aims to bridge the gap between what's available and what's needed. Their vision is a world where every K9 officer has everything they need to survive and thrive. Join us in this episode as we learn more about K9s United and the important work they do to support K9 Units and their officers. Join K9s United on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the World Golf Hall of Fame for the K9s United 9K for K9s. This annual event will include the 1-mile fun run (untimed), the classic 5k, and our challenging 9k! Both the 5k and 9k will be chip timed with awards for the top runners in each category. All the runs are open to runners and walkers of all levels. Can't make it out on race day, that's okay...we are offering a "NO EXCUSE" Virtual 5k option, so you can still be part of the fun and earn a T-shirt and medal, all while supporting a great cause.
