S4 Ep 3: Colonization And The LGBTQ+ Community

In this episode of Word on the Street, Student Inclusion Educators Annissa and Omar of the RRC will be discussing colonization at its lasting effects in the LGBTQ+ community. During the discussion, the history of colonialism regarding BIPOC communities around the world is elaborated on to show its contribution to homophobic/transphobic idealogies that exist in these communites today and the roots they share due to colonization. Stories from Two Spirit individuals and other gender nonconforming identifiying peoples are also shared to show how this history continues to impact lives today.
