A U.S. Naval Academy graduate and Surface Warfare Officer, Captain Cordle commanded USS Oscar Austin (DDG-79) and USS San Jacinto (CG-56), leading Sailors in demanding operational environments while earning numerous leadership honors including the Bronze Star, the Admiral Bulkeley Award for Peer Leadership, and the Navy League’s Captain John Paul Jones Award for Inspirational Leadership. Beyond command at sea, Dr. Cordle became a leading voice on human performance, fatigue management, and crew endurance, helping drive important reforms such as circadian watch rotations that improved Sailor readiness and safety across the Surface Navy.
