S5 E2 - Chris Stewart & MN Hockey Camps

from Listen Local

Hello Friends, Hope you have had a great week and FINALLY enjoying the snow! We can't believe we're saying this, but THANK GOD for the cold weather so we can get some ice on these lakes! Speaking of ice, today's episode is all about the news outta Breezy Point, where MN Hockey Camps recently acquired the local Gulls hockey program, and will now be known as the MHC Gulls. To tell us all about that, and other updates with the Breezy Point hockey scene is our pal and owner of Mn Hockey Camps and the MN Loons, Chris Stewart. Not only does he dive into everything regarding the Camps and Team, but also how he has seen hockey in the area grow since he and his family moved to the area after his time in the NHL, including events like the Smiles for Jake "Jake Haapajoki Memorial Cup" which he played in this past weekend. And of course before he left, we HAD TO discuss how he rates Isaiah's chirping game, which we all saw last year at Loons games! Thanks again to Chris for stopping by. Also on this episode, the crew of course discusses some local happening including a LOT OF news stories and some events happening this weekend. On that note of events, our guy Reese Glover is back in town performing this weekend. You can catch up Friday evening at Woodlore Cider or Saturday night at The Side Track. Another newsworthy topic, and something near to our hearts in Pequot Lakes, make sure to tune into ABC's 20/20 episode this Friday night as they are airing a story about Dru Sjodin called "Missing from the Mall." Thank you so much to our sponsors Hanneken Insurance, Lakes Area CPAs, Hills Detailing Center, Posture Pro Chiropractic and our presenting sponsor Tyler Gardner with Pequot Lakes and Gull Lake Sanitation! Chinook Realm Religion and crime collide when a gruesome murder rocks the isolated community of Chinook, Montana. Local Deputy Ruth Vogel thought she was answering a routine animal control call, only to find a mangled corpse on the frozen embankment. Her small town is whipped into a frenzy and everyone is quick to point their fingers at a drug-addicted teenager, but Ruth suspects connections to a powerful religious group. Enter Agent Loro, an enigmatic FBI investigator tracking an evangelical cult that may have roots right here in Chinook. Loro and Ruth form a cautious partnership to find the killer—but as the mystery winds through Ruth’s life, her family, and her church, she’ll discover something more sinister than murder is afoot.Binge all episodes of Chinook exclusively and ad-free by joining Wondery+ in the Wondery App, Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Guests will include both former and current believers in a variety of conspiracy theories, as well as debunkers, skeptics, and the investigators of those theories. I’m Mick West, a debunker. I wrote the book Escaping the Rabbit Hole – How to Debunk Conspiracy Theories using Facts, Logic, and Respect. This book came from my experiences running Metabunk – a debunking forum. Over the years I realized simply presenting corrections to people is not enough. We need effective communication, and we can’t do that if we don’t listen to and talk with each other. I’m hoping this podcast will help bridge that gap. Explicit Cast-A-Role: A Movie Podcast Cast-a-role A movie podcast that has absolutely nothing to do with cooking. Three friends take some of cinema’s much loved (or unloved) films and, for better or worse, stir in a different cast (it’s usually worse). A must listen for film and comedy fans alike.Cast-A-Role is filled with delicious humour, bad language, dubious opinions, and delectable movie trivia. Explicit
