Poets Bill Lavender, Sean F. Munro, and Rodrigo Toscano talk with Roxi Power about the wildly successful annual April event they organize: The New Orleans Poetry Festival. In the second half of the show, they read their own poems; the political poetics of each poem buzzes with national and global currents. Festival co-founder Bill Lavender reads from his opus-in-progress that he began writing on the day of the January 6 insurrection: City of God, inspired by Augustine of Hippo's book of the same name. Rodrigo Toscano: "We're not impresarios of poetic labor. We're here to build relationships. Atomization is what most Americans are experiencing. Alienation to the hilt.
