They might sound like:I can’t have more than you.I’ll struggle too, so you’re not alone.I’ll carry this burden for you.I won’t succeed in a way you couldn’t.I’ll make myself useful so I continue to belong.Nobody consciously chooses these patterns. They’re often created when we’re very young and learning what we need to do, be or suppress in order to belong.Our family of origin is our first system.
