All sin separates us from God. Some sins—pride, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, lust, gluttony—can destroy us. Today we’re going to conclude by talking about living in the power of virtue. We want to avoid the assumption that the answer to vice is simply to exhibit virtue… to “just be good.” Living in victory over your brokenness does not come from a better you, it comes from a new you who is transformed by Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Three commitments to help us learn how to live in that power are found in the book of Colossians: live in your new identity, put vice to death, and be faithful in renewal.
