Elizabeth shares the incredible journey of how Barky Pines came into existence, driven by the dire need in their community. What started as a retirement dream amidst economic hardships turned into a sanctuary for abandoned and stray animals. From encountering a stray dog in their neighborhood to witnessing overcrowded county shelters, Elizabeth's passion for saving animals led to the birth of Barky Pines. Over the past decade, the rescue has evolved into a six-acre haven for dogs, cats, and even farm animals like horses, pigs, and goats. It is our mission to save local animals in need of rescue.  To reduce pet overpopulation. To educate the community, especially our youth,  in animal husbandry, in order to break the cycle.
