S7 Episode 4: To Dwell in Our Midst - Week 3 (The Bronze Basin)

from Feasting on Truth · host Erin H. Warren

Why study this ancient tent? What does knowing the Tabernacle have to do with our faith on this side of the cross? Everything. From Creation, God's desire was to dwell in the midst of His people. In the middle of the wilderness, God gives Moses a way for God Himself to dwell in the midst of His people: the Tabernacle. This tent is not merely ritual or history or good information. It's essential to understanding our salvation. Our detailed and deliberate God gave us the Tabernacle because one day, He would give us Jesus. In this teaching, Erin Warren talks about the second furnishing in the Tabernacle: the Bronze Basin. Blood and water. Both are required to approach God, for Him to dwell in our midst. Blood atones. Water cleanses. The Bronze Basin served a practical purpose: washing off blood of the sacrifice, but it also gives us a spiritual representation: cleansing from the stain of sin. When blood and water flowed from Jesus' side on the cross, we were made clean. But, there is another type of cleaning: sanctification. It's the process of forsaking the things of the world and looking more like Jesus in the way we act, think, and speak. Thankfully, Jesus also gives us a way to take part in this process: The Word of God.KEY SCRIPTURESExodus 30:17-21Exodus 38:8Leviticus 14:48-53John 19:31-37For more information on this study: FeastingOnTruth.com/DwellFor recommended resources: FeastingOnTruth.com/ResourcesFor more information on studying Scripture: FeastingOnTruth.com/HowToErin's books and other studies: FeastingOnTruth.com/BooksFor speaking inquiries: FeastingOnTruth.com/Speaking
