S8 E2 Taking Back Your Monday

from Successfully Chaotic · host Successfully Chaotic

This is not as funny unless you go to Mel Robbins podcast on Audible, titled “Here’s Exactly What to Do” and listen to Episode 10: “How to Handle Frustration”. However, I decided to share this anyway. Let me paint the scene. I just got back from taking my kids to school. {Out of my seven kids, two are in a public elementary school, two are homeschooled, and three have moved out.} It hadn’t been a particularly extra frustrating morning, surprisingly since it was Monday, however it included my children so you can fill in the blanks there. On the way back I had put on the podcast episode and was listening to it. I got home prepared to get started on my to do list still listening to the episode. She was saying that if you’re feeling frustrated or stressed to take a walk, dance, or whatever. So as I’m standing there filling up my water bottle from my Berkey water filter, I decided to just dance while filling it up. I wasn’t going to let frustration steal my morning. I still have my shoes and I suddenly noticed the floor feels a little funny while I’m doing my dance to relieve all life’s frustration… I looked down to a squashed cookies. The kids had dropped cookies that they brought back from grandmas house contraband style and I was attempting to relive my frustration by dancing on them. My first thought, “If that isn’t a poster child for my life I don’t know what is.” My second thought, I hate when the kids bring junk food home from grandmas. And, my third thought “why are they so messy. They eat like pigs. “ But suddenly, I just started to laugh. After the initial shock and added frustration… It made me laugh I just craziness of my life. And I’m sure I’m not alone. While kids add so much joy to our life… They also add tons of frustration, messages, chaos, and the list goes on. My advice? Just laugh. Sure people might think you’re crazy. Maybe you are a little. However, I have found that almost everything can be made a little bit better with a little humor. And even a bit of dancing.
