Jeremy Zakis: Jeremy Zakis details the melodrama and unexpected struggles of the Australian cricket team during their series against Bangladesh in Darwin. Despite playing on home soil, the Australians fell significantly behind, leading to visible frustration and on-field tantrums. Zakis highlights an incident in which Mitchell Starc yelled at a Bangladeshi batter, as well as other players protesting rudely to umpires. He attributes the team's poor performance to Bangladesh's exceptional batting strength and their superior conditioning for Darwin's extreme humidity. Unlike the Australians, who are accustomed to dry heat, the Bangladeshi players thrived in these tropical conditions. Zakis characterizes this Bangladeshi squad as a black sheep whose performance has surprised everyone. He concludes that these bad days are a stark departure from the team's usual professionalism and raise concerns as they look ahead to the upcoming Ashes series. (2)
