S8 Ep27: ⚠️ Time to BeReal ⚠️, Bots Influence The Masses, Who Will Run For President in 2024?

from Millennial: Pretend Adulting, Real Talk · host Laura Tee, Pamela Gocobachi

Welcome back to #Millennial, the home of pretend adulting and BeReal talk. Friend of the show and fellow podcaster Eric joins us this week! Do we actually want our friends to know what mundane things we're up to? A new report from Rolling Stone claims that bots, and perhaps even Zach Snyder himself, may have played a role in the social media push for the release of The Snyder Cut of 'Justice League.' Do we worry about bots when participating in social media movements? On a related note, the vast majority of teens do not trust news coming from TikTok. Huzzah! On the other hand, there is a ton of misleading information coming out of TikTok. How did teens learn to be skeptical of their social platform but Boomers still treat Facebook articles like the gospel?! While Biden and Trump are the obvious frontrunners for 2024 (for now), both are lagging in the polls among their own supporters. Should Joe Biden run in 2024? The panel has some split opinions. Would implementing an upper age limit as a qualifier for President be ageist? One major issue behind Biden's lagging approval ratings: Democrats are harder on him than Republicans were on Trump at the same stage of presidency. Laura's plea: get in line in 2024. For the love of god. This week's recommendations will feed your body and soul: Find a Choco Taco if you can (RIP) (Andrew), Nest Thermostat (Laura), See's candies chocolate coffee beans (Pam), and Yellowstone National Park (Eric). Find Eric on his podcast Thank You For Spieling and of course MuggleCast! And in this week's installment of After Dark, available on Patreon: It's all about fan conventions baby! First we provide a brief overview of this year's SDCC announcements.  In the era of covid, how safe can meet and greets even be? Eric shares a tale of plexiglass, photo ops, and a celeb still getting covid anyway. As someone who has done quite a few meet and greets with celebrities, Eric shares his experiences and tips for having a successful meet and greet. Does going to a convention right now feel responsible? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
