S9 E155: Thrive as a Working Mom with Support

from Empowering the Working Mom Podcast with Latika Vines · host Latika Vines

The word necessity has various meanings. But, what if that meaning included yourself being a necessity of your life? What if that meaning included yourself as being able to thrive? And as the necessity of your life, it is recommended to have the support to help you survive and thrive. That support can include therapy. Working with a therapist or counselor gives you an opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behavior. It can also help you learn new coping skills and techniques to better manage daily stressors.  In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, our guest Dr. Candace Mukendi, LGPC shares her definition of necessity and why the support of therapy is important for us to thrive. She gives tips on why the support of therapy is necessary and how you can search for one in your local area.  Below are a few of Dr. Candace's reasons therapy is necessary for working moms:  you are able to understand how your brain works  you have the space to feel heard and not judged  you have the space to talk about your deep thoughts  you gain the resources to establish boundaries  you are able to increase confidence in your communication skills, and much more  Work & Life Balance Tip: Gain the space to be vulnerable and honest with yourself  Dr. Candace Mukendi is a working mom of two daughters and a wife. She is the owner of Be Well Resource Group, LLC. She is a mental health clinician and occupational health psychology practitioner. Candace received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, her master's degree in Clinical-Counseling Psychology from LaSalle University, and her PhD in Business Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology at Washington, DC.
