SA artists stage a sit-in at National Arts Council offices

Various artists have staged a sit-in at the offices of the National Arts Council in Newtown, Johannesburg. At the heart of the matter is the funding agency's alleged inability or unwillingness to avail relief funds to artists. About twelve of the artists have been sleeping in the building for a few days now. The sit-in was initiated by opera singer Sibongile Mngoma.
