Statistics South Africa has just revealed that South Africa's gross domestic product (GDP) contracted by 1.4% in the fourth quarter of 2019, following a revised 0.8% contraction in the third quarter. The impact of load shedding, which the power utility says is likely to remain for approximately the next year and a half is suspected to have severely impacted productivity in the already ailing economy among other issues. We spoke to Dr Azar Jammine- Economist at Econometrix
