SABC employees picket over retrenchments

SAfm — The SABC has distanced itself from a list circulating on social media revealing the names of those who allegedly benefitted from irregular appointments, promotions and salary increases. The organisation is seeking to review the employment contracts that were not enter into legally. This comes as SABC employees embark on lunch-time pickets across the country to protest against the proposed retrenchments. More than 2000 permanent and freelance employees are to lose their jobs if the retrenchments go ahead. SABC COO Chris Maruleng has warned workers that the protest action is not legal.
