SAfm — SABC Chairman Bongumusa Makhathini says the public broadcaster's turnaround strategy is being guided by what is best for the corporation. Makhathini was speaking in Parliament this morning where the SABC is presenting a plan that will see the organisation become viable again. He says the salary bill has been increasing over the past five years and currently stands at 42 percent of the revenue. He says the company has been engaging with employees and unions on possible retrenchments. SABC CEO Madoda Mxakwe has also told the Portfolio Commitee on Communications that improving on the commercial aspect of public broadcaster is important if the other key operational factors are to be addressed successfully.
