SABC retrenchments should be last resort-law expert

SAfm — Associate Professor and Head the Department of Law at Monash South Africa Tshepo Mongalo, says there may be merit in the argument that the SABC took the easy way out by first announcing retrenchments and not explore other ways of cutting costs or bringing in revenue. The public broadcaster has announced that it is technically insolvent and will be shedding over 2000 permanent and freelance jobs. The company held a media briefing at its head office in Auckland Park yesterday.
