"Sacrament" - Buried Treasures, Part 1

from Grace UMC (Greensboro) Sermon Podcast

We began a new series called Buried Treasures this Sunday by looking at sacraments, specifically the sacrament that Christians call Holy Communion, or the Lord's Supper, or the Eucharist. We looked at Luke 24:13-53, the story of the walk to Emmaus and the ascension of Jesus. It is no accident that Jesus ate and drank with his disciples before the returned to the Father, and in that eating and drinking their eyes were opened to Jesus' identity. Jesus still opens our eyes in the breaking of bread at Communion today. Bottom line: Jesus ascended in body but is encountered in bread.
