Sacrifice

from Open House Church Sermons · host KJ Tromp

A wealthy, morally upright man wants eternal life, but his possessions matter too much for him to follow Jesus. His sadness exposes the limits of goodness, wealth and human willpower. Salvation is impossible by human effort, yet God changes sinful hearts and enables costly obedience. Jesus does not demand the same sacrifice from every disciple, but nothing may outrank Him. The joy of God's renewed world makes present losses for Christ worth bearing. Bible Reference: Matthew 19:16–30 Preacher: KJ Tromp
