SACRIFICE AND THE SACRAMENT, Chapter 3 of Blood Atonement by Ogden Kraut

  Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us. (I Cor. 5:7) On the night previous to His crucifixion, Jesus gave bread and wine to His disciples during His last supper. It was on this occasion that He introduced a new ordinance. There in that upper room He passed bread and wine to introduce the sacrament of that last supper and explained the meaning of it. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them saying, “Drink ye all of it; for this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” (Matt. 26:27-28)
