Sacrifice of Praise - Pt 2 ~ The Thank offering is associated with the Shelem (Peace) Offering

The Thank offering (or Todah) is associated with the Shelem (Peace) offering. And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he shall offer unto the LORD.If he offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, of fine flour, fried. Leviticus 7:11-12 One of the applications or meaning of this offering for alliance or friendship. It is an offering that is associated with having table fellowship with someone. If we want to have a personal relationship with the God of Israel we must bring to him a “Todah” or a thank offering. We can see how the Todah (thank) offering is associated with the Shelem (peace) offering in 2 Chronicles 33:16: And he repaired the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel. What is the altar? It is our heart. Why would we need to repair our altar, our heart? Because it has been wounded. What is involved in repairing/restoring my wounded heart? We are to offer shelem (peace) offerings and todah (thank) offerings unto God from the altar of our heart. This will bring medicine for the wounded heart. How do we do this? The scripture says we are to do this with unleavened cakes: If we want to have table fellowship and personal relationship with the God of Israel, we must come before Him with an attitude of thankfulness for what He has done for us and with a song of praise unto Him. In doing so, He wants us to make a total commitment of our lives unto Him while seeking to live a holy life before Him.
