Safety Questions and Margaritaville’s Big Expansion
from Cruise News
Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Getaway returned to Miami on August 24 after a passenger fell from a stateroom balcony onto a lower exterior deck on the final night of a three-night Bahamas cruise; crew provided life-sustaining measures but the guest did not survive, and the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Homicide Bureau is handling the case as an unclassified death investigation. Margaritaville at Sea will begin weekly Galveston sailings in October 2027 under an operating agreement approved August 25, making it the seventh cruise brand operating from the Texas port, with the line already homeporting at the Port of Palm Beach and Port Tampa Bay. And Harland & Wolff's Belfast yard has won the 12-week refit of the Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber, the former Costa Fortuna, a project expected to generate 40 million pounds for the Belfast region before the ship begins year-round Caribbean and Bahamas cruises from PortMiami in January 2027.
