Sailing with Pudsey for Mental Health | Bermuda News
from Bermuda News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Jonathan Brewin, a former Royal Bermuda Yacht Club commodore, just completed an awe-inspiring 2,250-mile sailing journey around Britain — the “Big Bear Voyage” — raising over $106,000 for BBC Children in Need to fund mental health support for young people. Sailing with his wife, friends, and the beloved Pudsey Bear mascot for three months across England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, Brewin hosted 79 events in 37 coastal towns. Inspired by a radio presenter’s charity sail and conceived for his 70th birthday, the trip was grueling at times — especially the second-to-last day — but blessed with mostly great weather. Brewin was deeply moved by global donations and emotional encounters with children the charity helps. The fundraising page is still live on JustGiving, and Brewin’s team hopes to keep momentum going — and maybe even plan more adventures.
