Today we remember Saint Ambrose the Confessor, a devoted priest, monk, and leader who dedicated his life to the Georgian Orthodox Church and the independence of his nation. Born Besarion Khelaia in 1861, he served faithfully as a priest, teacher, and abbot, enduring exile and persecution for his steadfast commitment to the Church's autocephaly.Saint Ambrose became Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia during a time of great trial. Despite harsh Soviet oppression, he courageously defended the faith and his people. His legacy as a confessor of the faith was recognized when he was canonized in 1995.Support the show
