Saint Irene Chrysovolantou: A Life of Humility and Prayer

Today we remember Saint Irene Chrysovolantou, a noblewoman from ninth-century Cappadocia who chose the path of monastic humility and spiritual leadership. After being selected to marry the young Emperor Michael, God’s plan led her instead to become a nun and later abbess at the Monastery of Chrysovalantou in Constantinople. Saint Irene is known for her deep prayer life, spiritual gifts, and miracles. She lived to be over 101 years old, guiding her community with wisdom and love, and leaving a legacy of holiness that is still honored today.Support the show
