Saints Rally, But Defense Bleeds | New Orleans Saints News

The Saints stunned in their season opener, clawing back from a 21-point deficit to force overtime against the Lions — only to fall 31-30. Tyler Shough dazzled with over 400 yards and three TDs, proving his grit after early turnovers. But the defense crumbled against Jahmyr Gibbs, who shredded them for big gains and two scores — a worrying sign ahead of tougher running backs like Henry and Robinson. A controversial second-quarter call, overturned after review, sparked outrage — even the Lions’ coach thought it was a fumble. In OT, Detroit struck first, then the Saints answered with a touchdown — but missed the two-pointer. A rollercoaster loss, yes — but one that revealed undeniable fight, offensive firepower, and glaring defensive flaws.
