Saladin's Generals: The Men Behind the Victory

In this episode, Lucas and Luna look past Saladin himself to the commanders who won his battles. From the cautious Taqi al-Din, his nephew, who held the left wing at Hattin and later took on the Armenians, to the steady al-Adil, whose diplomacy and siegecraft secured Egypt and Syria. We explore how Saladin's Ayyubid family network functioned as a military machine, how they coordinated sieges like Jacob's Ford, and how the rivalries among them almost undid the empire. We also consider the lesser-known figures: the Kurdish emirs of the Diwan al-Insha, the Mamluks like Ibn Qaraqush, and the role of the asa, Saladin's personal guard. Along the way, we ask what made Saladin exceptional—his own skill, or the men he trusted? #Saladin #Ayyubid #TaqiAlDin #AlAdil #Hattin1187 #Jacob'sFord #Crusades #MiddleEast #KurdishHistory #Mamluks #DiwanAlInsha #IbnQaraqush #SiegeWarfare #MedievalHistory #IslamicHistory #12thCentury #History #FexingoHistory Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
