Saladin's Justice The Qadi Who Shaped an Empire

from Saladin: The Muslim Leader Who Defeated Crusaders — Fexingo History · host Fexingo

In this episode, Lucas and Luna explore the role of al-Qadi al-Fadil, Saladin's chief administrator and the architect of the Ayyubid bureaucracy. They discuss how al-Fadil managed correspondence, justified jihad to the caliph, and handled state finances through innovative taxes like the gharama. The conversation touches on his rivalry with Imad ad-Din al-Isfahani, his influence on Saladin's image as a just ruler, and how his administrative reforms outlasted the sultan. Key figures include al-Qadi al-Fadil, Baha ad-Din ibn Shaddad, and Imad ad-Din al-Isfahani. The episode sheds light on the bureaucratic machinery that powered Saladin's campaigns and the legal frameworks that legitimized his rule. #Saladin #AlQadiAlFadil #AyyubidEmpire #IslamicBureaucracy #Jihad #Gharama #ImadAdDinAlIsfahani #BahaAdDinIbnShaddad #Crusades #MedievalHistory #MiddleEastHistory #IslamicLaw #StateBuilding #Administration #SalahAdDin #FexingoHistory #History #Podcast #AyyubidDynasty #MedievalMiddleEast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
