from Salonomics with Joe & Aaron · host Aaron Dorn

Thanks so much to Jason Crozier of Croznest For allowing me onto to his Instagram Live show. It's an extra treat. They discuss technology and understanding where the line is between you using it and it using you. Jason gives a live overview of the GoSalon website and what changes we can create to project a message and make the site appeal to emotions. Do people need educating on best practices of technology? No, they need education on analysis of themselves. Technology evolves to us and who we are and not the other way around. You have to analyse what the technology gives you? Do you earn money from it or is it distracting your focus / time. Don't let Technology abuse your time. The Lost Session There was so much more we discussed in the first half but that was destroyed by Jason's Cat. True. Topics such as: early days of the internet and the disruption to the music industry rewarding the artists directly - value was distributed to the fans at the click of a button and the musicians had the ability to earn money directly from fans without the record companies taking 95% of everything an artist earned. Sovereignty is valuable in the next paradigm post Covid. Sovereignty is freedom. It allows me to work wherever i want from one day to the next. Changes to the industry Smaller salons / remove the stigma from mobile or freelance hairdressing. People prefer the smaller unique experiences. Freelance spaces being better than conveyer belt salon experience. programming and hairdressing, In Hairdressing we can push the boundary and break the rules to create something new. Happiness in lifestyle. Embracing the technology to move us all forwards. We spoke about internet allowing us to do more things conveniently, faster but at what sacrifice? Analogue & Digital technologies that still work today. GoSalon / Affiliate marketing is what has allowed Amazon to become the giant company it is. Amazon couldn't be as big as they are without the influencers - hairdressers are the influencers. Don't fear Amazon as they need us more than we need them. GoSalon is a concierge service that connects hairdressers and their clients to a trusted seller of their products on the internet. GoSalon is a little piece of a puzzle that will make the hair and beauty professional more sovereign. Average wage is the optic which we can measure the success of creative professional in the UK. (We can earn more working for a supermarket) The barber that was slated online for putting his prices up £15 - £21 - ignore that old client. That is just noise. Price is what you pay value is what you get. Stop worrying about your price. Focus on providing value for your client. GoSalon meme - We know it's cheaper on the internet (And so do your clients) Big Sector - being a social media Influencer is very difficult takes a lot of time. and the odds of becoming one is very small. The odds on you making money from your fans (clients) is a lot higher than you trying to make money out of the followers (social numbers) we touched on Internet allowing you to create a niche - focus on your craft becoming brilliant at 1-4 things and the internet will help you market that! We touched on education in the industry and how it all starts with being inspired to be great. Not being told by regulators and over governing bodies what to do. Hairdressers do not like that.
