Sam Allberry on Singleness in the Teenage Years
from Youth Ministry Unscripted: The Rooted Youth Ministry Podcast · host Sam Allberry, Davis Lacey
“[If] everyone is either married or lonely, it doesn’t matter how brilliantly you teach the Bible’s sexual ethic. It’s not going to be plausible.”“Whenever there’s a negative in the Bible, the question is, ‘What’s the bigger positive that negative is protecting?’”Sam Allberry, Seven Myths About Singlenesswww.samallberry.comPre-Order The Jesus I Wish I Knew in High School Hosted by: Danny Kwon, author of Teenagers and Mental Health; Becca Heck, M. What this episode covers
The teenagers in our youth ministries aren’t married. Many of them don’t have a boyfriend or girlfriend. As they lead these lives of singleness, they are bombarded by cultural and societal messaging which essentially communicates that, unless one is romantically and sexually fulfilled, he or she is somehow “missing out.”As a single man in his 40s, Sam Allberry knows these realities firsthand. Yet in this podcast (which draws upon his book, 7 Myths About Singleness), he communicates a better word of gospel hope to the single teenagers in our youth ministries. We hope that this episode of The Rooted Youth Ministry Podcast will equip and empower you to better understand the biblical teaching on human relationships/sexuality, and to teach those doctrines to the teenagers you serve.
