Samaritan

Amit, Dennis and Sunny discuss Sylvester Stallone’s turn as a superhero in The Samaritan (2022). We discuss Stallone’s iconic status, his hits and misses, and his portrayal as an ageing and disaffected man coaxed back to using his powers for good by a determined and resilient young boy. We cover the great supporting cast, the twist everyone (except one of us) saw coming, the value of a simple story simply told, and the themes of belonging, family and choices that make us. The Marvel juggernaut might just have something to learn from this film. Where does the Samaritan land on the D54 rating scale, and shockingly, is this the best superhero film this year?
