Samson - Part 3: God's Grace Intervenes

In this third message from the series Samson: The Man Who Could Have Been, Fr. Paul Girguis examines Judges 15 and the tragic consequences of a life ruled by compromise, attachment, revenge, and self-interest. Samson was consecrated to God from the womb and given extraordinary strength through the Holy Spirit. Yet instead of using his gifts to deliver God’s people, he repeatedly spent his strength repairing disasters created by his own choices. His heart became entangled with the world, his zeal lacked discernment, and his desire for revenge gradually pulled him away from the calling God had given him. Fr. Paul reminds us that Samson’s story is also our story. Through baptism and chrismation, every Christian has been consecrated to God and sealed with the Holy Spirit. The question is not simply whether we possess spiritual gifts, but whether God has a genuine say in how we use our relationships, time, energy, money, talents, and freedom. This sermon challenges us to examine what we have attached our hearts to, where we are living near the boundaries of compromise, and how much of our strength is being wasted cleaning up self-made disasters. It also reveals the astonishing mercy of God, who continued to pursue Samson and empower him even when Samson did not deserve it. God’s mercy is greater than our failure, but His grace is not given so that we can continue living for ourselves. It is given so that we can return, become consistent in our walk with Christ, and fulfill the calling for which we were created.
