Samson: The Saviour No One Asked For - March 22 2026

from Erindale Bible Chapel · host Erindale Bible Chapel

Israel is in a familiar and tragic place in Judges 13. Once again, the people have done what is evil in the sight of the Lord. Yet something is different this time. There is no cry for help, no plea for mercy, no sign of repentance. God’s people are suffering under oppression, but they have grown comfortable in their sin and silent in their distress. And yet, God moves toward them anyway.Into this spiritual apathy, God announces the birth of a deliverer. Samson is not requested, not expected, and certainly not deserved. He is, in every sense, the saviour no one asked for. His arrival reminds us that God’s faithfulness does not depend on our faithfulness. He is committed to saving His people, even when they are indifferent to Him.But Samson’s story also leaves us longing. His flawed life and partial victories point beyond himself to a greater Deliverer. Where Samson would struggle and fail, Jesus Christ comes as the perfect Saviour. He is the true Deliverer we did not seek, yet desperately need, who saves His people not merely from oppression, but from their sins.Series: Judges: The Flawed and the FaithfulScripture: Judges 13:1-25Speaker: Pastor David Hallett
